CHEERS

Ahead of returning to Texas for the Academy of Country Music awards tomorrow, the most-awarded artist in ACM history and passionate animal advocate Miranda Lambert has some good news for her home state, announcing nearly $130,000 in “It Takes Balls” spay & neuter grants awarded by her MuttNation Foundation to 34 organizations in East Texas, North Texas and the Texas Panhandle, with plans to expand to additional areas of Texas in the future. The “It Takes Balls” campaign was launched in Tennessee in 2023 to raise awareness for the importance of spay & neuter and offers grants to qualifying low-cost programs.
I wanted to dedicate this space to an artist who has thoroughly impressed me: Annie Bosko. I first became aware of her when she performed her breakthrough song "Neon Baby" a few months back on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. I had the chance to meet her in person at CRS during the infamous Paddle Royale tournament (shame on you Brett Young) and was immediately struck by her personality/charisma/charm. I then saw on Insta she was dealing with a pretty bad burn incident, but that didn't stop her from meeting her performance obligations like Stagecoach. I then became aware she was fighting some other challenges but kept performing, singing for two hours at some gigs and traveling like crazy. I then saw her yesterday at the ACM Country Kick-Off at The Star in Frisco and let me tell you - she sounded amazing. Annie has it all - she has the voice, the charm, the heart, the grit, the work ethic - everything about her screams future Superstar. I hope you give her a chance because I don't think there is anyone who could outwork her, so she just needs that one chance, that one song, to take her to the next level.

Keep up with the latest happenings in country music.

This past Saturday, (5/11), groundbreaking Country artist Lily Rose made her Grand Ole Opry debut, marking a full-circle moment in her career. Performing two new tracks off her freshly released six song EP, Runnin' Outta Time, Rose received a standing ovation for the first song, “Back Pew,” and continued with a strong performance of her autobiographical ballad “Two Flowers.” Introduced by friend and Opry member Kelsea Ballerini, Rose reflected on her whirlwind journey from stocking shelves at the Opry Mills Mall as a young artist to stepping into the revered Opry circle.

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum hosted its 45th annual celebration in honor of Words & Music®, the museum’s flagship educational program. School-aged participants and their families gathered in the museum’s Ford Theater, along with the evening’s hosts, Monument Records recording artists Tigirlily Gold, to hear a selection of 13 songs written by students in Nashville and its surrounding areas. Throughout the night, students performed their Words & Music compositions alongside their professional songwriting partners and classmates. The program was recorded and will be shared on the museum’s website later this summer.
